National Health Training Entrance Exam Opens Smoothly And Fairly

Cambodia's national entrance examination for basic study programs in health sector bachelor's degrees for the 2025-2026 academic year began on 6-7 December 2025 with 11,354 approved candidates sitting written tests at five exam centers in Phnom Penh. Sok Peng, Secretary of State at the Office of the Council of Ministers and head of the national exam committee, said the first day proceeded smoothly, with transparency and fairness in line with the government's reform strategy under Prime Minister Hun Manet, emphasizing that candidates who pass or fail must do so on merit. He noted that applications were higher than last year, reflecting growing interest in health professions and streamlined but still rigorous procedures.

The written exams cover biology and chemistry on 6 December and mathematics on 7 December. A total of 1,654 committee and sub-committee members from the Office of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and public and private health training institutions have been deployed to organize, invigilate, mark and publish results, with monitoring by anti-corruption bodies. The exam aims to select high-performing students to enter health training programs and strengthen the quality of human resources in the health sector. Sok Peng also appealed to parents not to force students into health careers against their own aspirations, warning that going against their will would harm learning quality and long-term performance. Preparatory meetings were held on 4-5 December to brief all exam officials on roles and responsibilities.
