Ministry Revokes Journalist Licence

This decision came after Sarath was accused of serious ethical violations involving the misuse of inappropriate language and physical misconduct towards a female suspect, which was documented in social media images. The images showed Sarath touching the suspect's cheek, leading to his license being annulled and his actions restricted as a precautionary measure governed by law.

This revocation serves as a strict measure to regulate the media sector domestically. The ministry called on all journalists to learn from these mistakes and adhere strictly to ethical standards before continuing their activities in the field. Additionally, the ministry urged the halt of the circulation of related images and videos to prevent further dissemination and protect the dignity of those involved.
