Cambodian Senate Delivers Korean Humanitarian Aid to Kampong Speu

On 4 January 2026, Mam Bun Neang, chairman of the Senate Commission on Investigation, Clean-up and Anti-Corruption, led a Senate delegation to hand over donations from Senate President Hun Sen and humanitarian assistance from the Republic of Korea's Global Life Sharing foundation to the Kampong Speu provincial administration, worth more than 2.3 million US dollars. The aid package includes funds, medicines, medical equipment and daily necessities to support poor families, vulnerable groups and internally displaced people affected by recent Thai attacks along the border. During the ceremony, Mam Bun Neang conveyed greetings and sympathy from the Senate leadership to provincial authorities, civil servants and residents in Kampong Speu.

Mam Bun Neang said the Cambodian Senate is using two main mechanisms to respond to the current tensions with Thailand: close engagement with local authorities and communities, and active parliamentary diplomacy at international forums, in line with international law and existing treaties, while upholding the principle that borders cannot be changed by force. He expressed gratitude to Global Life Sharing, led by Kim Jong-nam, for its continued humanitarian support channelled through the Senate. Kampong Speu governor Cheam Chansophorn thanked the Senate and the Korean foundation, and pledged to distribute the assistance transparently and effectively to the most needy and displaced people. Mam Bun Neang also urged the public to immediately stop posting or sharing any information, videos or images that reveal military operations or supply routes of armed forces and displaced civilians on social media.
