នៅថ្ងៃទី១៣ ខែមករា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦ លោក ឈាង រ៉ា រដ្ឋមន្ត្រីក្រសួងសុខាភិបាល បានអញ្ជើញចុះពិនិត្យ និងចូលរួមក្នុងបេសកកម្មវះកាត់មុខមាត់ឆែប ជូនកុមារកម្ពុជា នៅមន្ទីរពេទ្យមិត្តភាពខ្មែរ-សូវៀត។ បេសកកម្មនេះធ្វើរួមគ្នារវាងក្រសួងសុខាភិបាល និងអង្គការ Smile Cambodia ជាមួយក្រុម Northwest Medical Volunteers ពីសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក ដើម្បីវះកាត់ជាសេវាមនុស្សធម៌ដល់កុមារដែលមានបបូរមាត់ឆែប ក្រអូមមាត់ឆែប ពិការច្រមុះ ពិការស្លឹកត្រចៀក របួសរលាកភ្លើង និងបញ្ហាពិការភាពមុខមាត់ផ្សេងៗ។ លោករដ្ឋមន្ត្រីលើកឡើងថា បេសកកម្ម 'smile operation' មិនត្រឹមជួយកែសោភ័ណភាពទេ ប៉ុន្តែជួយបង្កើនទំនុកចិត្ត សេចក្តីថ្លៃថ្នូរ ក្តីសង្ឃឹម និងអនាគតល្អប្រសើរដល់កុមារ និងគ្រួសាររបស់ពួកគេ។

ក្នុងឱកាសដូចគ្នានេះ លោក ឈាង រ៉ា បានថ្លែងអំណរគុណយ៉ាងជ្រាលជ្រៅចំពោះក្រុមគ្រូពេទ្យជាតិ និងអន្តរជាតិ ដែលបានឧស្សាហ៍ព្យាយាមផ្តល់សេវាវះកាត់ដោយមិនគិតថ្លៃ និងដោយមនុស្សធម៌ ជួយកុមារ និងអ្នកមានបញ្ហាមុខមាត់ឆែប និងរបួសធ្ងន់ៗ។ លោកក៏បានលើកសរសើរដៃគូអភិរក្ស និងអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្តទាំងអស់ ដែលបានរួមចំណែកនាំស្នាមញញឹម និងឱកាសព្យាបាលជូនប្រជាពលរដ្ឋកម្ពុជា ទៅតាមគោលបំណងរដ្ឋាភិបាលក្នុងការកែលម្អសុខុមាលភាពសាធារណៈ និងកាត់បន្ថយបញ្ហាពិការភាពមុខមាត់នៅកម្ពុជា។

Health Minister joins humanitarian surgeries for Cambodian children

On 13 January 2026, Minister of Health Chheang Ra visited Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh to inspect and join a humanitarian surgical mission providing free facial operations for Cambodian children. The mission, organised in cooperation with Smile Cambodia and the Northwest Medical Volunteers from the United States, offers surgery for children with cleft lip, cleft palate, nasal deformities, ear deformities, burns and other facial disabilities. The minister said the 'smile operation' is not only about restoring physical appearance but also about rebuilding confidence, dignity, hope and better futures for affected children and their families across the country.

During the visit, Chheang Ra expressed deep appreciation to both Cambodian and international doctors who are volunteering their time and expertise to deliver these free operations. He also thanked partner organisations and volunteers whose support helps bring new smiles and access to treatment to Cambodian citizens who could not otherwise afford such specialised care. According to the minister, these activities support the government's broader efforts to strengthen public health services, expand access to reconstructive surgery and reduce the long-term social and psychological impacts of facial disabilities on vulnerable children.
