Cambodia is focusing on reforming its economic structure and boosting labor productivity to achieve its goal of becoming an upper-middle income country, according to Minister Heng Sour. The country's shift from an agriculture-based economy to one driven by industry and services aims to enhance productivity and reduce poverty. The interlinking of skills and technology is seen as vital for addressing skills gaps while maintaining international competitiveness. At the inaugural 2025 National Employment and Productivity Fair, officials highlighted the importance of continuous reforms to benefit national interests and promote regional standing.

Additionally, the rapid advancements in technology, particularly digitalization and automation, have created new jobs and necessitated the workforce to acquire new skills. The fair, held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center, also serves as a platform for Cambodian youth to explore and understand market demands directly and gain insights on adapting to constant changes in the labor market both domestically and internationally.
