Cambodia Protests Against Thai Military Visit

The Cambodian government has lodged a strong protest against Thailand concerning an unauthorized visit by Thai military officials in Cambodian territory. The visit, conducted on February 2, 2026, was led by the Chief Intelligence of the Thai Army to two hotels in O Smach District, Oddar Meanchey Province. This incident occurred without permission from the Royal Government of Cambodia, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cambodia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia has condemned the Thai military presence as a serious infringement. The Cambodian government labeled these actions as contrary to the United Nations and ASEAN charters, which could be seen as an attempt to legitimize Thailand's control over the area. Despite these tensions, Cambodia remains committed to resolving border disputes through peaceful means as per international law.
