ក្រសួងវប្បធម៌ និងវិចិត្រសិល្បៈបានបង្ហាញថា ក្រុមការងារ UNESCO នឹងមកកម្ពុជានាទីបំផុត ដើម្បីវាយតម្លៃផលប៉ះពាល់លើប្រាសាទព្រះវិហារ ដែលត្រូវបានបំផ្លាញដោយការបាញ់ប្រហាររបស់យោធាថៃ។ អ្នកនាំពាក្យក្រសួង លោក ស៊ុំ ម៉ាប់ នៅថ្ងៃទី១៤ ខែមករា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦ បានឲ្យដឹងថា ការចុះពិនិត្យផ្ទាល់របស់អ្នកជំនាញអង្គការ UNESCO ជារបាយការណ៍ស្តីពីការខូចខាត គឺជាជំហានចាំបាច់មួយមុនពេលដំណើរការទៅកាន់ជំហានបន្ទាប់ៗ ដើម្បីថែរក្សា ការពារ និងរៀបចំពិធីការ​ស្ដារឡើងវិញនៃប្រាសាទព្រះវិហារឱ្យមានសុវត្ថិភាព និងអចិន្ត្រៃយ៍។ លោកបានបញ្ជាក់ថា កាលបរិច្ឆេទមកដល់របស់ក្រុម UNESCO ទើបនៅមិនទាន់កំណត់ ប៉ុន្តែអាចនឹងកើតឡើងក្នុងពេលខាងមុខ។

មន្ត្រីក្រសួងបានលើកឡើងបន្ថែមថា របាយការណ៍វាយតម្លៃនឹងជាមូលដ្ឋានសំខាន់សម្រាប់កំណត់វិធានការបន្ថែម ដើម្បីការពារកុំឱ្យមានការបំផ្លិចបំផ្លាញបន្ថែមទៀតលើប្រាសាទ និងតំបន់ជុំវិញ ដែលក្រសួងកំពុងធ្វើការយ៉ាងតស៊ូ។ ការបង្ហាញនេះធ្វើឡើងបន្ទាប់ពីក្រសួងវប្បធម៌ បានចេញសេចក្តីប្រកាសព័ត៌មាន អំពីស្ថានភាពខូចខាតនៅរមណីយដ្ឋានប្រាសាទព្រះវិហារ និងតំបន់ជិតខាង ដដែលបណ្តាលមកពីការបាញ់ប្រហាររបស់យោធាថៃ កាលពីថ្ងៃទី២៤-២៨ ខែកក្កដា និងថ្ងៃទី៧-២៧ ខែធ្នូ ឆ្នាំ២០២៥ ដែលធ្វើឱ្យកម្ពុជា​ព្រួយបារម្ភចំពោះការអភិរក្សបេតិកភណ្ឌវប្បធម៌ពិភពលោកនេះ។

UNESCO To Assess Damage To Preah Vihear Temple After Thai Military Attacks

UNESCO experts are expected to travel to Cambodia soon to assess damage to the Preah Vihear temple complex following artillery attacks by Thai military forces in 2025. Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts spokesman Sum Map said on 14 January 2026 that a field inspection and technical report by UNESCO specialists on the extent of the destruction is a necessary step before Cambodia and its partners can move to further stages of protection, conservation and restoration. He noted that no exact arrival date has been set, but the mission is anticipated in the near future.

According to the spokesman, the forthcoming assessment report will provide the basis for designing additional measures to safeguard the temple and surrounding areas and to prevent further damage to this World Heritage site. The ministry is continuing its work to protect the monument while preparing for international technical support. The announcement comes after the Ministry of Culture issued a statement detailing damage at the Preah Vihear tourist site and nearby zones, which it says resulted from Thai military shelling between 24-28 July 2025 and 7-27 December 2025. The case underscores Cambodia's concern about the security of its cultural heritage along the border and the role of UNESCO in documenting and responding to such incidents.
